| According to information that I have, the above formula was developed by the Iowa Engineering Society in February of 1919. I can find no other information other than the formula itself and definition of the terms in the formula. In a recent project where we used the formula, an attorney indicated that in the formula, the depth of the rear line of a lot being considered could not extend beyond the limits of the assessment district. It seems to me, the way the formula reads, "D = Depth of the rear line of lot from the near right-of-way line." does not indicate that if the rear lot line extends outside of the assessment district, then you consider the boundary of the assessment line as your rear lot line. Is there a source somewhere for information on the Flint Formula? I have not been able to find one.
