Mission & Ethics

Formed in 1889, the Professional Mission of the Iowa Engineering Society (IES) is:
To enhance the practice of Professional Engineering through education, leadership development, advocacy and ethical stewardship, while raising public awareness of the critical role Professional Engineers serve in enriching our quality of life.

In keeping with its mission, IES supports the requirement of the Iowa Engineering & Land Surveying Examining Board that completion of an Ethics Questionnaire is necessary to apply for engineering examinations and licensure by comity.

Review of Iowa Administrative Rules Chapter 193C and Iowa Code 542B is needed to complete the Ethics Questionnaire.

The Iowa Engineering Society also operates as Iowa Link 28 in Region III of the Order of the Engineer, dedicated to “Upholding Devotion to the Standards and Dignity of the Engineering Profession.”
